Announcing a new training course – Effective policy development: Collaborative techniques for impactful results

Written by Karina Smith | Jul 9, 2024 1:33:06 AM

We are delighted to announce a new policy training course that can be run in-house for teams of up to 30 participants.

In today’s challenging landscape of complex public policy issues and heightened citizen expectations, mastering effective policy development is crucial. Policy advisers must excel as collaborators, influencers, negotiators, and questioners, ensuring their advice is ‘grounded in robust analysis and data-backed insights that resonate with the community’.

We’ve helped policy makers in all levels of government to introduce these ways of working within constraints.

We are well-positioned to share our techniques and experiences, helping individuals enhance their effectiveness in policy advice, development, and delivery.

What this workshop will cover

Join us for a one-day exploring practical tools and new techniques to develop and implement great policy. Some specific activities include:

  • Unpack the core elements of great policy opportunities and challenges in light of the APS model for Great Policy Advice developed through the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
  • Explore the different sorts of activities you can do, and how you can feel safe to try them within the constraints of your own environment.
  • Practice the tools and techniques you’ll need to be successful.
  • Hear examples of how policy teams have successfully used these approaches.
  • Have space to share experiences of what works, and what doesn’t.
  • Develop an actionable plan for your policy problem.

Who should attend

  • Policy officers, advisors and implementers all levels of government
  • People working alongside policy professionals
  • People involved across the policy lifecycle
