    The impact of our work has been publicly acknowledged through various awards. To date, our highest acknowledgements were winning the Good Design Team of the Year Award in 2022, the first strategic & service design organisation to be recognised, and the Good Design Award of The Year for 2018, which placed our work first overall out of 536 entries from around the world.

    Australia’s Good Design Awards is a prestigious international program that has promoted excellence in design and innovation since 1958. It recognises social, commercial and environment impact across all categories of design – including architecture, industrial design, digital, product, service, social, communication, and fashion design.

    Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia and Chair of the Awards said:

    “Every designer at Meld Studios displays commitment to attacking design problems as a team. Using human-centred design principles they collaborate with each client with the same level of passion and drive as the previous, proving that a problem shared is a problem halved.

    HUMAN CENTRED DESIGN APPROACH TO COMMUNICATE RISKS OF ILLEGALLY DUMPING ASBESTOS

The idea was well researched and communicated and ultimately scalable. Terrific process and project.     AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR THE MOVING IMAGE – VISITOR EXPERIENCE

    The Good Design Awards Jury commented:

    “The research methods and procedures were expertly executed and the resulting journey map was a piece that served as a valuable guide for this project. The value of the research to the organisation is clear. It helped inform master planning, leading to design and architectural work, staff process changes and organisational value upgrades.     “This is a great example of human centred design in action. The output created new, shared, practical tools and processes to reinforce new ways of working for better policy design. Good penetration into a government agency, given this can be hard. Useful, practical and easy to use site that brings in DT into policymaking. demonstrates presence of some pre-conditions that is reassuring. A project has the potential to have significant impact on all Australians. The project has been clearly framed and communicated. It would have been useful to see how the framework has been deployed in the APS.”

    TRANSPORT AS A SERVICE IN SYDNEY’S NORTH WEST – GOLD WINNER

    The 2019 Good Design Awards Jury praised this work as an:

    “Excellent example of a consultation process that includes the customer and placed them at the centre of the process. The designers have clearly made every effort to really understand their needs and desires. This is a great example of user-centred design in a large scale and highly complex project and a showcase for what good design can do to help improve our quality of life.”

    GROWING HCD CAPABILITY ACROSS QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT – GOOD DESIGN AWARD OF THE YEAR & BEST IN CLASS

    Our efforts to help Queensland Government work in a more human-centred way won the overall Good Design of The Year Award and  Best in Class for Service Design.

    REIMAGINING THE STATE LIBRARY OF VICTORIA – GOLD WINNER & BEST IN CLASS

    We worked with the State Library of Victoria to define their future state vision for the Library.
